Vaud Pro

Ten years after its initial release, we’ve debuted Vaud Pro, our completely redrawn and reengineered version of our type family Vaud.

Vaud Pro is our extensive sans serif font family redrawn from scratch and released on the decade anniversary of the launch of our out-of-print type family Vaud.

Vaud Pro includes heaps more language support including Vietnamese, a select few tasty alternates, and so much more!

The OpenType version features 10 expansive weights across the Roman and Italic of Vaud Pro, while the Variable Font versions (roman and italic) include all ten weight axes and 900(!) incremental weights per.

Vaud Pro is inspired by the original German and Swiss sans serif families with a healthy twist of influence from Stephenson & Blake’s O.G. English grotesks, extruded into a contemporary type family that straddles the niceties of sans and grotesks.

The entire Vaud Pro family features detailed kerning and spacing so that the entire family will work precisely on-screen and in print. Pair Vaud Pro with Baskerville, Caslon, or any other stately serif family for rigorous, stable and connotative visual communications.

To celebrate the release of Vaud Pro, we made type specimens, but a world’s first in that category: Vaud Pro socks!

They come in black with white and red, and white with black and red.

Each pair bears the tagline “Swiss the shit out of it!”, a saying from the 1980s popularized in Graphic Design History class at CalArts by design historian Lorraine Wild. Lorraine spent time working for Massimo Vignelli Associates in the early 1980s and “Swiss the shit out of it!” is something that was bandied around the office when it came time to apply then-emerging The International Style of typography to a project.
