New beer label design for the Fort George Brewery × Everywhere Brewing collaboration cans!

It’s a West Coast IPA, which is my favorite kind of beer.

I was invited to work on this by the esteemed Josh Berger of Plazm, the fellow who handles most of the design stuff for Fort George.

Twenty five years ago, Josh was kind enough to kind of let me railroad him into being an intern at his design studio. I really liked what Plazm was doing, notably their identity work for assorted regional businesses. Josh was kind and nurturing, even when I was a fucking terror.

I was just at the beginning of a decade-plus-long jag of me spewing out my designer impostor syndrome on everyone around me, and Josh took in stride, as a wise older-than-you and more experienced person should do.

I messed up a lot, but he showed me how I did in ways that were kind, non-judgmental, and extraordinarily forgiving.

(He also showed me what it might be like to run a design studio.)

A quarter century later (!!!), we work on stuff together still, but I have never been able to express both my gratitude for Josh’s investment in my development, as well as my excitement for the multiple projects that he has invited me to partake in over the years.

Josh, thank you for teaching me and for always pushing me. I always needed it and still need it. Thank you for never giving up on me.

Also, Fort George Beers are some of my favorite beers in the world.
